SESSIONS
The European Commission plans to strengthen the European collaboration with and between health professionals and patients in key areas with the ambition to ensure greater implementation and usage of eHealth and Telemedicine services. This process should result in recommendations on how to improve confidence in and acceptance of eHealth services, for example telemedicine, also taking into account ethical and privacy related aspects.
The Swedish Ministry of Health and Social Affairs have a long experience in involving key stakeholders when establishing the Swedish Strategy for eHealth in order to ensure awareness and commitment for healthcare reforms based on eHealth solutions. As an incoming Presidency, Sweden will therefore address the importance of stakeholder involvement in the context of a more concrete European cooperation on eHealth.

Biography
Daniel Forslund is Head of Section for eHealth at the Swedish Ministry of Health and Social Affairs, and is leading the Government’s work on eHealth policy, medical terminology, standardisation and laws and regulations for electronic data handling within the healthcare sector. He holds a Master’s Degree in Political Science and has been working within the Swedish Government Offices since 2002. Mr. Forslund is the Management Board Director for Sweden in the International Health Terminology Standards Development Organisation (IHTSDO) and is Chairman of the Project Steering Board of the epSOS Large Scare Pilot. He has also been Chairman of the Ministries of Health Group within EHTEL.
Biography
Artur Furtado is responsible for the eHealth and Health Systems files at the Health Information Unit of the Public Health and Risk Assessment Directorate, within the European Commission Directorate-General for Health and Consumers. He was previously in charge of the Health and Environment file.
He is currently dealing with the policy and implementation of health projects in the above areas in the framework of the 6-year Community Health Programme.
He was member of the Cabinet of the Secretary of State for Employment and Professional Training, a Strategic Investment Advisor at the Portuguese Investment Agency, consultant and a Project Manager of health research projects at the Institute of Electronics and Telematics Engineering of Aveiro.
