SESSIONS
The spending for eHealth in hospitals and healthcare in Europe the last 10 years has been billions of Euros. So far little has happened to the quality of the service seen from the patients view. In Norway a large number of patients die from unwanted effects of healthcare each year. These numbers are serious compared to deaths in car accidents and a very low risk of dying in an airplane accident. Hospitals thus still seem to be the most dangerous place to stay. In industry and in the transportation business IT has been a major factor to reduce accidents and personal injuries, and to improve effectiveness. The speech will discuss how IT and eHealth can have an impact on quality and effectiveness in hospitals.
