SESSIONS
In the growing telemedicine and eHealth industry we do not have to wait for more new technologies to arrive; there are already many technologies at hand that can make ehealth solutions cost effective and improve patient care. Instead, the challenge is to draw business, healthcare providers and other players together to develop better models for partnership and for funding long term sustainable solutions.
Business innovation in this area is about finding models that are effective for the specific local needs and circumstances where ehealth solutions are to be deployed and ensuring these are integrated into the complexity of the local healthcare system. Industry players need to be intelligent in finding these models. Certainly, the models that work in one country may not work in another so it is essential to work very closely with the local Governments, customers and healthcare providers to localize developments. In this way, we have the best chance of finding models that work locally and bring local businesses and partners into the project, helping them to grow as well.
The Assisted Living Research Programme project led by GE Healthcare in Hungary is made up of local industry players and academic partners who will develop technologies that are localised to meet the specific needs of the healthcare challenge posed in Hungary, but will still be scalable for European and global reach. The presentation will outline how the partnership was brought together, its members and the aims and objectives of the project in delivering better care in the home environment to patients with chronic disease.
